Here are the upcoming test dates for 5th grade (I tried to take into consideration their project due dates and space them out as best I could.)
Bible Unit 1 Thursday, October 27, 2011
Math Chapter 2 Friday, October 28, 2011
Science Chapter 2 Monday, October 31, 2011
I know that they have a Science Project due on 10/31/11 as well but I also know that most of them are more than 90% finished with their project already.
Since the end of this week is heavy in tests there will be no Scripture Memory assignment this week.

Progress Reports
Parents,
Just wanted to let you know that I was sick this week and as a result, there are several grades that are not reflected on the Progress Report. I am hoping to have all the grades uploaded to Engrade by Sunday evening. I will send login information via email on Sunday as well. Let me know if you have any questions.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Remember, you have a Scripture Memory Verse (Psalm 103:7) and a Science Project due on Tuesday (no school on Monday). Your Science Project includes the "Striving to Survive" worksheet and a 2-3 minute presentation as a TV broadcaster.

Welcome Letter
Hello everyone!
I hope you had an enjoyable summer! I would like to take this opportunity to welcome both you and your child to First Baptist School of Laurel. My name is Ms. Roach and I'm excited to be working with your child this coming school year. I want to let you know a little about my professional and personal background so that you can feel more comfortable sending your child to me on the first day of school. I have over 20 years of teaching experience, the last seven of them here at First Baptist School of Laurel. I have taught preschool, middle school, high school, college students and adults and am looking forward to adding upper elementary to my experience.
I was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest where the trees are green all year round and you are never more than a block away from a great independent coffee shop! I moved to Maryland in 2002. I enjoy road-tripping, photography, reading, video gaming and playing the guitar.
Fourth and fifth grade is an important time with lots of changes for students including increased responsibility. Please know that I welcome your help in making this an exciting school experience for your child. I am looking forward to working with each of you and encourage you to feel secure in the knowledge that your child will be well cared for and treated with respect in a loving, safe classroom environment.
Please be sure to check the calendar for important dates!
Trying to do what Jesus would do,
Janet L. Roach
